Good things come to those who wait impatiently.

All good things come to those who wait.  Luckily there is no mention of waiting patiently, or needing daily progress reports as to how far away that good thing is.

Voltorb turned 6 in May, and ever since the Pirate Party, Oshawott has been impatiently waiting for his turn. 90 sleeps away I told him, well didn't that just break his little heart.  9 is far away enough, but 90!?  He could not comprehend there was such a number.  So after that I tried to not use numbers as reference for him.  He talked about his Birthday almost every one of those 90 days.  How he was going to have a jumping castle just like the other party, how he wanted every single toy he saw on commericals/catalogues/in shops for his 'birthday!', and an Oshawott cake (oh good!).  I almost forgot the balloons, he also wanted floating balloons!

Time was whittling away nicely, I had even arranged the venue and sent out the invitations.  During our trip to Broken Hill in June, I even practised making some Oshawott cupcakes.

Then he became sick.

The birthday topic was the one thing that would still put a smile on his face during some of the early sick days.  We said yes to every toy he wanted, Daddy told him he was going to take him to Toy World and he could buy ANYTHING he wanted.  Then there is me, peeking my head around Coder whispering "within reason of course!".  Not that the almost 4 year old was heeding me any attention at all.  He was still daydreaming about walking into Toy World coming out with half a wall of Lego in his trolley!

The sickness managed to drag on and on.  It was one week before his Birthday that he came home from hospital (the second time).  His party was scheduled for the day before that and I wasn't sure if it was a good idea.  But the Doctor said it would be fine, and it would have crushed his sole if we cancelled it.  So it went ahead.

On the last morning in the hospital I decided that I was not going to attempt the cake this time around.  Too much stress that I just didn't need, and I wanted him to have a perfect cake.  And there would be no way I could have made it look this good:

Happy client.

Balloon man arrives.

The plush Oshawott present was a hit.

A friend made some Oshawott friendly cupcakes. They were much appreciated!

I grabbed the opportunity of letting the 6 year old be responsible for the 23 month old so I could escape slide duty.

It's fun to pretend to ride a scooter.

Yet in the blink of an eye it all goes pear shaped. Pichu having a tanty after the scooter was not complying to the rules of anti-gravity. The scooter sure learned a lesson here!

Daddy's (occasional) boy.
Tantrum placed on hold for cake candle mesmerisation.

Very rare photo of me.  Love the mustard jacket
on bright yellow backdrop.

At home later, modelling one of his presents. A Power Ranger!

Voltorb disappeared into his room armed with an Oshawott toy and the Happy Birthday balloon, coming back later with this.

Putting some Trashies to work in the Trash Pack street sweeper.

What was I thinking?!

Recycled Oshawott cake for round 2 of Happy Birthday singing.

Oshawott and his posse watching Playschool.  Yeah!  ROCK!
From left: Birthday Boy Oshawott, talking Oshawott, dirty Oshawott, grumpy Oshawott and steroid Oshawott. Guest appearance: Spotty Pyjamas.

Spoiled much?  eek!

Happy Birthday gorgeous boy!

  1. Happy Birthday Oshawott! The look on his face in these pictures says it all!

Wouldn't it be great to be excited about birthdays again! I say let the kiddies enjoy birthdays... Sunny had in June and she's already talking about turning 5! Ummm.... 10 more months to go! How many is that in sleep counts?! Lol

P.S. I love the mustard jacket! Good on you for not going black! The colour looks great on you! As for the yellow wall... Umm... Let's leave it at that :)!

    1. 10 months, oh you are in for some fun! There is a reason they are only every year, so we can recover!

My fault about the wall, there was a perfectly good bright green wall just on the other side!

  2. As for the drum kit... What were you thinking girlfriend?!!!

Sunny has a Barbie laptop that I'd love to drown in the dishwasher... I'm fine if there's a volume control but unfortunately I can't shut Barbie up!

    1. A really nice guy in Dowsing Point, I think it's Richardson something or other.

You are too kind, any good quality that jacket has is completely lost to the bright yellow wall.

  4. Happy birthday!
A drumkit! Hahahaha. Our kids have one of those electronic ones so they can plug headphones in and we don't have to listen, genius!
And I must confess, I have no idea what an Oshawott is?

    1. That's the next drumkit we will be getting (once the house is extended so we have room). They are already asking for one.

Oshawott is a type of Pokemon. Do not show your children, or you too will be forever making pokemon themed cakes and cupcakes!

here "Good things come to those who wait impatiently.".

And I actually do have 2 questions for you if you do not mind.
Could it be simply me or does it look like some of the responses look like they are coming from brain dead folks?
:-P And, if you are writing on other sites, I'd like to keep up with everything new you have to post. Could you make a list of all of all your public pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
